Agriculture is the foundation of Indian economy. It provides food for the mankind and raw material for the industry. India has suitable climatic and geographic conditions favourable for agricultural growth and undoubtedly agriculture will always be an indispensable sector of the economy.

In India, about 60% of the population is directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture.The liberalisation policies of the Government and the establishment of WTO have created more opportunities for globalising agriculture. Agriculture and allied sectors like forestry and fishing which accounts for 13.9% of the GDP continues to be the mainstay of the Indian economy. 

The concept of agribusiness denotes the activities of agricultural sector integrated in terms of production, processing, marketing and shipments (exports/imports) under different organisations. Agri-business explores production, marketing and trading of products related to agriculture.

It also covers improved growing techniques, agricultural machineries, fertilizers, pesticides pre and post-harvest handling, storage, transportation, packaging and labelling. The main focus of the programme is to produce agri-business managers who have the understanding of production technology as well as commercial aspects of agriculture.  The MBA-Agribusiness program is thus a response to this growing need for professionals, who can contribute to, and engineer the agribusiness revolution.
