In the past two decades the global landscape has undergone a transformational change in shaping governance models and mechanisms. The rapid economic growth paradigm coupled with rising income levels has been one of the key drivers of change in lifestyles, consumption patterns and attitudes as well as transforming the lives of hundreds of citizens across the world. The recent financial crisis along with global environmental  challenges like climate change, energy security , water shortages, food security  and social inequities  have all been pointers to a new direction that is needed for taking the world on a sustainable growth path.

Moving ahead the world is faced with a resource cum carbon constrained situation. For global businesses to be truly competitive companies must work towards developing solutions that are not only resource efficient but also low polluting and growth oriented.
