Agriculture continues to be one of the biggest contributors to the growth of Indian economy. Symbiosis Institutes were one of the first in their league to acknowledge this growth. It was their belief in the unexplored potential of agribusiness that made SIIB one of the finest college for agriculture in the country. With modernization and technology taking center stage, agriculture is also undergoing a revolution. Yes! The simplicity of farming that fostered the growth of Indian economy for several decades has now modernized into agribusiness. Taking cue from the on-going trend of globalization, agriculture has now grown to adapt to the era of modernization and therefore generates several well paying opportunities. But the question to ask yourself is the talent pool for agribusiness huge enough to suffice. Colleges like the Symbiosis Institute of International Business are among’st the top MBA schools in the country that cater to the ever growing demand of professionals from the agribusiness.
Just last week the Indian Agribusiness community witnessed a major development when the Israeli people extended an olive branch to our farmers. Before you get me wrong, we are not talking about a grand peace treaty between the two nations symbolized by an olive branch. Instead we are talking about Olives. Yes! The Israeli’s have mastered the agribusiness abilities of growing Olives and have offered to share their expertise with their Indian counterparts as well. As a result of this development, a lot of the farmers on the western belt have resorted to Olive farming. With the first produce due in a few months, these farmers have confirmed reports of a bumper produce and are extremely happy with the results. Symbiosis has always encouraged its students to keep track of such major developments as they symbolize the growth of the industry.
In fact, this rule applies to the other programs under the Symbiosis banner including the MBA in International Business and the MBA in Energy and Environment as well. The increase in Olive farming may seem odd at first sight. After all, the Indian palate doesn’t favor the inclusions of Olive in our routine meal plan. But dig in a little deeper and you can see clear signs of India’s agribusiness growing by leap and bounds. The Olives are an excellent export opportunity and if Indian farmers have brewed the right cocktail, the increasing demand for Olives on an international level, means great business opportunities and growth for the Indian economy
