Drugs- One of the most common ‘stuff’ that we come across on a daily basis in our youth; something which causes physiological change in the body, a short-lived, intense high that is immediately followed by the opposite—intense depression, edginess and a craving for more; and which has the power to turn our lives upside down. Even then, for some, it is a part of their daily lives; something that has taken deep roots in their mundane routine. We know the after effects, yet we turn to these alternatives. Why is that ?
Is it for fun ? or because of our inability to find satisfaction in what we do ? Is for the reason that we have grown bored of all the good around us ! Or the belief that happiness is transient ? Or maybe, for some, it’s just a way to find themselves who otherwise feel lost in this fickle world. Whatever the excuse be, we end up in the same dark place, holding on to the chords that hurts our fingers. !
It is ironic that we plunge into this abyss, in search of the things that become transient as soon as we slip into it !
The most amazing time of our lives- the youth presents us with a clean slate and the blank slate hungers to be written upon. And that is when all the pessimism creeps in and we turn to these macabre things for support; because we desperately need to find an anchor to hold us down. The result ? It is evident- a body without the basic sense, a broken vessel. An empty shell. And what is a man without a mind? Without memory? A ghost? A body, in search of a soul? With no compass to guide us, how can we know if our destiny is to seek the good, or obey the demons that whisper in our ear?
We find ourselves imbibed in Something that can actually make us empty in terms of all the things we couldn’t find in our immediate surroundings only because we didn’t look close enough
The body thrives when the heart has a mission. But what happens when the mind that is supposed to guide us, loses its way ? We lose the path and the destination is never to be found again.
It is paradoxical that We search for that which we miss, in the things that has the potential to kill us. May be this is why It is rightly said that ‘The things we do for thrill are the ones that kill us’.
