Movies like Star Trek and Star Wars has inspired the human kind to travel into the space. Now Space Tourism is a dream come true for some.  An astronaut was always considered lucky as he/she got to experience the adventures of the space. A visit to space requires no scientific degree and neither skills. It is with the help of few expert’s normal civilians can be sent into space. Although the fares for a space trip would be reaching sky limits there are no lack in the number of enthusiasts.

Space tourism is technically defined as: “A vision of having affordable space transportation system for as many people as possible going to space as space tourists”.

It was a dream that was difficult to fulfill, but few pioneering companies are striving to fulfill it. Companies like Virgin Galactic and Tesla are aiming to fly civilians into the space by the year 2018. Richard Branson has been optimistically forecasting the start of rides aboard SpaceShipTwo, an air-launched suborbital spaceplane that is designed to carry six passengers and two pilots to an altitude of about 62 miles (100 kilometers). This is a big challenge as for its making and testing procedures. The impossible is to happen taking into consideration the amount of time and finances involved in the processes.

It has been a controversial topic as criticism towards its fares and investments are a great concern. Gunter Verheugen Vice President European Commission said,”It’s only for super rich people”. Apart from this criticism there are few who believe that this might be a benefit towards economic growth. It is said that ever since Dennis Tito journeyed the international space station, eight private citizens have already paid $20billion and by 2020 the sector would grow by 15 folds.

According to me Space Tourism is an interesting concept. As a civilian I would be excited to visit the space and get a closer look at world beyond the Earth. I believe that if normal human beings can enter space than it would be expand the horizons of explorations. We can talk about shifting planets and many more unpredictable arenas. Hence no matter how challenging “The Dream” is we must strive for its fulfillment.
