Embarking on an MBA journey is often seen as a stepping stone toward career advancement, but for me, it became much more than that. My time in MBA college was transformative, not only professionally but also personally. It was a period of immense growth, filled with learning, friendships, memories, and the shaping of my career trajectory.
The Classroom Experience: A confluence of Knowledge and Wisdom
The professors at my MBA college were more than just teachers; they were mentors who imparted not only knowledge but also wisdom. Their diverse experiences and subject expertise opened my mind to new ways of thinking. Whether it was a complex financial model, a marketing case study, or a discussion on macro economics, the learning was really impactful. I remember the long hours spent on case studies and presentations. The surprise exams or gruelling late night submissions was a different experience altogether. Learning foreign language was also a unique experience where we were introduced to a new culture. Our curriculum included Imports,Exports, Policies and Incoterms. This practical learning was very helpful in my career. I smoothly avoided the struggle of other MBA grads who were not taught these things and had to learn on job. Overall it was a great assimilation that halped me to prove to the world and professors shaped us perfectly in doing so.
Friendships: Bonds Forged for Forever
SIIB was also where I formed few but some of the most meaningful friendships of my life. The shared pressures, the group projects, and organising multiple fests brought us closer. We were a diverse group, each with our own strengths and perspectives, but united by similar aspirations. I learnt many skills from the talented people around me those I had never dreamt of. Intense discussions and debates over different subjects gave me a new perspective altogether. We were having some international students on the campus and interaction with them gave a different flavor to my learning which I did not see in students from top colleges also. The camaraderie we built during those years is something I cherish deeply.
Memories: A Collection of Moments That Last a Lifetime
SIIB days were a blend of rigorous academics and unforgettable experiences. From the pressure of presenting to experts to the more relaxed moments spent at college festivals and social gatherings, every moment was a memory in the making. I recall the thrill of organising Ignisence – flagship event of college which imbibed lot of confidence in me about my abilities. Tireless work with team and satisfaction itched special memories in my mind forever. I also vividly remember the mixed emotions during final placements. The Interviews, Group Discussions and wait for final list – I can all remember like fresh.SIIB has indeed given a multiple unforgettable moments that I cherish forever.
Shaping My Career: Theory to Application
The lessons learned during my MBA laid the foundation for my career. Learnings from experienced teachers was blend of academics and real life situations. This approach helped me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world events. Project on Import Export procedures, visit to regulatory bodies of country like BSE helped me transcend bookish information to knowledge. Habits like mandatory reading of banking case papers on RBI websites, following Finance newspaper daily and exams on current economic environment made me a better corporate executive. Today, as I navigate the complexities of business, I often find myself drawing on the lessons learned during those formative years.
Returning as a Speaker: A Full-Circle Moment
Returning to my alma mater as a guest speaker was a surreal experience. Standing in front of a new generation of MBA students, sharing my journey and insights, I was filled with a sense of pride and gratitude. It was a full-circle moment, where I went from being a student eager to learn, to someone who could give back to the institution that shaped me. The familiar halls, the faces of eager students, and the warm welcome from my former professors reminded me of how far I had come and how much I owed to SIIB.
A Journey Continues…
Looking back, my MBA experience was one of the most significant periods of my life. It was a time of learning, growth, and self-discovery.
